Building the Memorial

Update: 28. 08. 2009     comments

The benches are in! Special granite was used to develop the benches that will surround the monuments obelisk.

Contractor Graphic Concepts now has both of these benches as they continue to gather the materials required.

The ceremonial Ground breaking was done during the 13th ESC Color Casing Ceremony, but there is much left to do.

Monument's Emblem completed

At the top of the octagonal obelisk that will make up the monument will be a full-colored brass emblem of the 13th ESC crest. That emblem has been completed, and was on display during the January ExComm meeting.

Committee members got to see for themselves the high quality emblem, and all noted the weight. Roughly estimated about 50 pounds, this emblem will serve as the cap to the centerpiece of the Memorial Pavilion. Builder Terry Robison shows off the completed emblem.

Drive by Roberts Hall on Support Avenue and you will be greeted with a reminder that something is going on on Guidon Parade Field. General Contractor Graphics Concepts has marked the territory of the future site of the 13th ESC Memorial.

The sign is but a small start to this project, but we expect construction to proceed soon.

The Wall is Up

Update: 07. 08. 2010     comments

The Wall of Honor has been constructed and is a visible sign of the amount of progress going on at the Pavilion site. Dedication Date is set as Sept 17th, 2010 at Ft Hood at 10am.

There is still much to do, such as placing the obelisk, adding the benches and laying the brick walkway before dedication. If you are on Ft Hood make sure you drive by the HQs and see the work being done.
