13th COSCOM Association Needs Money for
Soldier Memorial – After more than two years of raising
funds, the 13th Corps Support Command Association is closer to
meeting their goal. The 13th COSCOM Association is raising money to
help finance a memorial for the fallen Soldiers of the 13th
Sustainment Command (Expeditionary). About 20 people from the local
community, including many retired service members, attended the
fundraising event at the Hilton Garden Inn in Temple on Dec. 8.
13th ESC Veterans Day Tribute, With Introduction, Veteran's
Day tribute dedicated to veterans of the 13th Sustainment Command
(Expeditionary) with an introduction by Brig. Gen. Wentz and Command
Sgt. Maj. Joseph and featuring "Army Strong" music performed by the

13th ESC cases its colors, breaks
ground on memorial The 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary)
cased its colors during a ceremony June 24 at Fort Hood’s Guidon
Field in preparation for the headquarters’ third deployment in
support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In early January, the
headquarters ramped up its training requirements in an effort to
ensure every Soldier was qualified to go downrange. [

13th Sustainment Command's colors were cased for the third time Wednesday
since the Iraq war began. It soon will lead the largest re-posturing and
drawdown of equipment and soldiers in the last 40 years, its commander said.

13th Sustainment gets ready for role in Iraq
It's June 18, 2009, in sunny Joint Base Balad. The 13th Sustainment
Command is responsible for the logistics of the Iraq Theater of Operations.
One of the 13th's subordinate brigades, the 96th Sustainment Brigade,
suffered an electrical fire in its finance office. The fire damaged more
than $100,000 in American currency and receipts, and destroyed a computer
with untold amounts of pay information.

Post 9/11 GI Bill
Overview
On 30 June 2008, the President signed the Post-9/11
Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, which becomes effective
1 August 2009. It is referred to by the Department of Veterans
Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense (DOD) as the Post 9/11 GI
Bill. The Post 9/11 GI Bill is a new education benefit program for
individuals who served on active duty on or after 11 September 2001.

4th Infantry Division has memorials to honor its fallen. The 1st Cavalry
Division does, too. Now, Fort Hood’s third-largest unit is working toward a
memorial of its own.
A group of current and former soldiers from the
13th Sustainment Command jump
started the
13th COSCOM Association
this summer in hopes of gathering new members and raising funds for a
